How Ik ben vermist works

Ik ben vermist brings owners, finders and neighbours together. Here is how it works, whether you are missing an animal, have found one or have seen one wandering around.

Missing

Your pet is missing

  1. Report for free, no account needed

Enter the place where your animal was last seen, add photos and distinguishing features, and confirm by email. It takes two minutes.

  2. Share your poster

You immediately get an A4 poster, flyers for letterboxes and images for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, with a QR code linking to your report.

  3. The neighbourhood helps search

Neighbours with a neighbourhood alert receive an email. Anyone who sees your animal sends you a message via the site; your email address stays hidden.

  4. Back home

Mark your report as "Back home" and share your story. It gives others hope.

Found

You found an animal

  1. Keep the animal safe

Give it some water, keep it away from the road and have a vet scan it for a microchip.

  2. View reports in your neighbourhood

Search by postcode and type of animal. Someone may already be looking for it.

  3. Post a "Found" report

We immediately show you missing animals that look similar, and alert neighbours in the area.

Report a found animal
Seen

You saw a stray animal

  1. Note where and when

If you can, take a photo without scaring the animal.

  2. Post a "Seen" report

That way the owner knows where to look, even if you couldn't catch the animal.
