Why Instagram?

When a pet goes missing, the first hours matter most. The more people see a listing in those hours, the greater the chance that someone recognises the animal. Instagram puts a listing in front of people we reach less through the website or Facebook.

What appears on Instagram?

The link with the website is automatic, as with the Facebook page. Nobody has to retype or forward anything.

  • New listing: appears as a post and a story.
  • Tips and news articles: appear as a post and a short video (Reel).
  • Listing update (still missing, new photo): becomes a story, with a comment on the listing.
  • Pet back home: a “terug thuis” (back home) comment and a story.
  • Listing removed: it disappears from Instagram too.

Everything is available in Dutch, French, English and German: each translation appears in its own language.

Privacy: what is (not) shared

We only share what is already public on the listing. A phone number or e-mail address never appears in a post. When you report a pet, you choose whether the listing may appear on social media (Facebook and Instagram). Earlier listings are not reposted on Instagram.

What can you do?

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to do anything to get my listing on Instagram?

No, nothing extra. When you report a pet, you choose whether the listing may appear on social media (Facebook and Instagram). If you agree, it appears automatically.

Is my phone number shared?

No. We only share what is already public on the listing, never a phone number or e-mail address.

Can I have my listing removed from Instagram?

Yes. When a listing is removed, it disappears from Instagram too. If your pet is back home, a “terug thuis” (back home) comment and a story are posted there.
